Samsung SGH-i620

Samsung is the master of slider style handsets, and has again extended that knowledge into the smartphone world with the announcement of the new SGH-i620. Launched at IFA in Berlin this week, the new Samsung SGH-i620 combines the smarts of Windows Mobile 6 into a thin and stylish package, ripe with the classic Samsung design traits.

While it measures only 16mm (0.63") thick, the Samsung SGH-i620 packs a punch on the specifications sheet. On the connectivity side of things, the device includes tri-band GSM compatibility, along with UMTS and HSDPA for high-speed mobile data, which is complemented with the requisite Bluetooth v2.0. Up to 80MB of on board memory is available, with a microSD memory expansion slot present for storing all your presentations and documents for use in the full Office Mobile suite.

Despite being clearly business centric, the Samsung SGH-i620 also boasts impressive multimedia capabilities. A 2.0MP camera, complemented with a VGA resolution camera for video calling, takes care of photography, while the 2" QVGA (320x240 pixel) resolution landscape orientation display is great for video playback or surfing the web. An RSS reader compatible with podcast feeds will also provide entertainment on the go.

Samsung have so far only confirmed a September release of the SGH-i620 for the German market, with the device carrying the German QWERTZ keyboard layout. Samsung's own press photos show the device with a QWERTY keyboard layout, however, suggesting a possible release across Europe and other markets in the future.
